A Milford man stopped for speeding near Middletown on Friday was found with more than 1,100 bags of heroin, according to police.
Troopers stopped 24-year-old Andre Waters' Cadillac Deville on southbound Del. Route 1 near the Biddles Toll Plaza for speeding about 2 p.m., according to Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack.
A search of Water's car was conducted after a K-9 officer detected the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle, he said.
Troopers reportedly found a plastic bag containing 90 "bundles" of heroin, totalling 29.5 grams, in the center console.
The heroin, which was packaged into 1,181 individual bags and stamped "Obama 2," carries an approximate street value of $12,000, Shavack said.
Troopers also seized $555 in suspected drug proceeds.
Waters is charged with possession of heroin in a Tier 5 quanitity, possession with intent to deliver heroin and speeding.
He is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington on a $60,001 cash bond, Shavack said.
