A man stopped on De. Route 1 last week for talking on his cell phone while driving turned out to be carrying more than 250 grams of cocaine, according to police.
Troopers stopped 36-year-old Philadelphia resident Orishafemi Swint’s Pontiac Grand Prix on soutbound Route 1 near the Pole Bridge Road about 1 p.m., according to Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack.
A search of Swint’s car was conducted after a K-9 officer detected the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle, he said.
Troopers then discovered 252 grams of cocaine in the truck, with a street value of about $10,000, Shavack said.
Swint is charged with possession of cocaine in a Tier 5 quantity, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and traffice violations.
He later was released after posting a $22,560 secured bond, Shavack said.
