Salvatore Louis Lubrano, age 88, born in Philadelphia PA in 1924, passed away on Saturday April 20, 2013 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
As a first generation American, Salvatore, known to family and friends as Sam, worked very hard to achieve an advanced education and career. He was raised in South Philadelphia, served in World War II, and married shortly thereafter. By putting himself through night school while raising a family, he graduated from Villanova University with a degree in electrical engineering. He retired from Ford Electronics Division (later Visteon) in 1990. Because of his warm heart and caring nature he was loved by all who knew him, and treasured by his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by two of his children, Patricia and Steven, his brother Michael Lubrano, and his sisters Philomena Parmantier and Theresa Cusick. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Walrod Lubrano, and four children, Rosalind Lubrano, Lisa Lubrano Coombes, Donna Lubrano O'Donnell, and Robert Lubrano, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, one brother, Rocco Lubrano (wife Gertrude), numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Saturday April 27, 2013 at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. (http://pdf.org)
