Townsend resident Samantha Hurst recently was named valedictorian for the Class of 2013 at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia.
Hurst, who is majoring in graphic design and minoring in illustration, said she hopes to find a job as a graphic designer in the Philadelphia area after her May 19 graduation.
She said she also dreams of one day owning her own design studio.
Hurst previously graduated from Polytech High School, where she studied visual communications, before earning her associate degree in advertising design from Delaware Technical Community College.
Moore College of Art & Design is a 165-year-old, all-women’s art school that currently enrolls out 500 undergraduates in nine bachelor of fine arts programs.
