  • A 29-year-old Middletown man died after his motorcycle struck a utility pole near the Maryland line early Sunday morning.
Daniel E. Levinsky was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Bethel Church Road, about 100 feet east of the Delaware-Maryland state line, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier.
The crash occurred about 2:20 a.m. as Levinsky was heading east from Maryland when he failed to negotiate a slight curve to the left and his 2011 Kawasaki Z1J motorcycle traveled off the roadway.
The motorcycle then struck the utility pole, ejecting him from the bike.
Fournier said Levinsky was wearing a helmet at the time.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, he said.
Traffic on Bethel Church Road was impacted for about two hours while police investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
