One of the most common weekly health regimens that 25 million U.S. golfers are undergoing is corrective chiropractic care. On the PGA Tour, Ted Tryba travels to various chiropractors around the region to receive special corrective care before and after tournaments, due to repetitive golfing. Pain is common among golfers, and golfers need proper biomechanics, posture, and an increase in range of motion to get an edge on the competition. According to one of 14 official PGA Chiropractors, during a typical touring year, close to 70% of PGA golfers experience low back pain, 20% suffer from neck pain, and 13% suffer with shoulder, forearm, and wrist pain. A whopping 75% of PGA golfers experiencing one of these ailments regularly seek chiropractic care. Other PGA and LPGA golfers currently seeking chiropractic care include: Tiger Woods, Fred Funk, Dave Duval, Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Scott McCarron, David Toms, Sandra Haynie, and Davis Love III.
Dr. Laurence works with several golfers and spinal biomechanics. Many avid golfers who seek lessons from professionals are still finding that their body won’t let them biomechanically move properly due to their abnormal spinal structure. Certified in Chiropractic Biophysics, he works to re-establish normal structural spinal alignment, thus removing nerve interference caused by misaligned vertebrae. The body is then better able to restore its optimal function and range of motion. Much like people who wear braces on teeth, better biomechanics takes persistence, hard work, dedication, and time. Afterall, how many people do you know attained perfectly straight teeth in three weeks? In addition to chiropractic adjustments and traction, he helps patients with increasing mobility in their pelvis and trunk; align posture, proper stretching protocols, abdominal strengthening, and reducing joint swelling.
Proper nutrition plays a key role in the health of golfers. Optimal healing can occur when eating a diet rich in green vegetables, omega-3-fatty acids, ginger, pineapple, glucosamine, avoiding processed foods, and increased hydration. By following through with the proper Corrective Chiropractic Protocol, your golf game is sure to go up (or down that is!)
