More than 200 area business leaders attended the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce's Spring Luncheon on Thursday.
The biggest star at the Middletown Volunteer Hose Company's Firehouse might have been two-time NBA champion Malik Rose, who was there representing Newark's new D-League team, the 87ers.
Yet it was Middletown Mayor Kenneth Branner who stole the show by zinging some of the attendees and listing some of the new businesses he says are considering a move to the area, including Texas Roadhouse, Belk department store, Michaels arts and crafts, Best Buy, Staples, Petsmart, Grotto's and a Brazilian steakhouse.
Odessa Mayor Kathy Harvey and Townsend Town Councilman Jermaine Hatton also updated the audience about projects moving forward in their respective municipalities.
