  • Mabel E. “Sandy” Craig-Legg, age 71, of Middletown, DE went home to be with her savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 while in the comfort of her own home. Born on May 19, 1942 in Wilmington, DE she was the daughter of Frances (Davidson) Craig and the late Powell Elkinton Craig, Jr. Sandy was a graduate of Conrad High School. She worked in various positions throughout her life where she made many dear lifelong friends. Sandy lived her life as a true reflection of God's love. Her passion was being an avid student of the Bible, where she enjoyed studying scripture and loved listening to Christian music. She loved learning about science and was an avid Roy Rogers fan and collector. Her huge heart was evident immediately to everyone she met. With a compassionate heart, she lived her life loving and caring deeply for others. She supported more than 40 charitable organizations ranging from helping animals to those supporting children. Her infectious smile, loving and giving nature will be dearly missed by the many lives she touched. "Loves...Mom's heart doesn't stop loving her children, just because you cannot see me. Listen to your heart and receive my whispers as I tickle each of you with my Love...as softly as a feather kisses your cheek. Abide in the Peace and Love of Jesus, for where He is, you will see Me. God Bless You My Children ..........My daughter, Donna Mae Legg - four granddaughters, five great-grandchildren....My daughter, Frani Legg-Peterson - one granddaughter, one grandson, five great-grandchildren....My son, Donny Legg - two grandsons, one granddaughter, one great-grandchild. In addition to her mother, Frances Craig, Sandy leaves a legacy of wonderful memories to her two daughters, Donna Legg and Frani Legg-Peterson; a son, Donald Legg; two sisters, Frannie Griffith (John) and Marty Tolmie (Steve); her loving and faithful kitty, Winnie, as well as, special and dear friends, Christine and Lee Morris and their children, who she treated as one of her own; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and numerous dear friends. On behalf of Sandy's family, they would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Dawn Scott, for all of the love, attention and care that allowed her to remain living independently in her final months and to Christine and Lee Morris for all of their love, support and friendship they so unselfish shared with Sandy. A celebration of life for Sandy will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 15 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with her family from 1:00-2:00 pm. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
