  • Even a double dose of thunderstorms didn't keep local families from attending the third-annual MOT Community Night at the Blue Rocks on Thursday.
Activities prior to the game between the Wilmington Blue Rocks and the Winston-Salem Dash featured several local organizations.
They included the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce presenting $1,000 scholarships to three local high school grades, a performance by the East Coast Nitros of Middletown, the on-field introduction of the MOT Little League team The Bombers, a performance by the MOT Senior Center Chorus, Middletown business owner Kevin Ferguson performing the national anthem.
Middletown High School football coach Mark DelPercio and Appoquinimink School District Superintendent Matt Burrows each threw out a first pitch, while member of the MOT Little League sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," during the seventh-inning stretch.
