The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is asking teachers, classmates, parents and group leaders to nominate a student for the 2013 Young Environmentalist of the Year Awards.
The awards honor Delaware students whose environmental stewardship, innovative project, public awareness campaign or other actions have resulted in the protection, restoration or enhancement of the state’s natural resources.
Nominations must be based on actions or projects that took place between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.
A winner will be chosen in three age groups representing elementary, middle and high school students.
Each winner will receive a gift card and a Delaware State Parks prize pack during a special July 25 ceremony at the 2013 Delaware State Fair in Harrington.
The deadline for nominating students has been extended to Friday.
For more information, including nomination forms, call Joanna Wilson at 302-739-9902 or visit www.dnrec.delaware.gov/Admin/Pages/YoungEnv.aspx.
