  • Townsend athlete plays ice hockey for Penn State

  • Emily Grace Laurenzi was born October 28, 1993 in Townsend, Del. She plays a sport that more and more women are enjoying: ice hockey.
    Laurenzi is playing at a very high level as a member of Penn State'snew Division 1 varsity ice hockey team. "I chose Penn State because of the campus and for the new hockey program," she said.
    She appeared in all 35 games, scoring four goals, seven assists and 11 points with a team best plus-six rating, and she was named as one of the team's Unsung Heroes.
    During the inaugural season, she won a team-high 258 faceoffs and posted a .496 winning percentage, and she tallied her first career point in a 5-3 win in the team's opener at Vermont on October 6th. And she tallied the game-winning power-play goal in a 3-2 win at highly-ranked Lindenwood on November 17th.
