  • The St. Georges softball team has wrapped up another successful, winning season, and has earned the Team of the Year title from the Middletown Transcript.
Head Coach Roger Seedorf said he was very proud of his team after their phenomenal year, "This was our second year in a row as Blue Hen Flight "B" Champions, and our best season ever as a varsity program, which is quite young in only our fourth year. This was our 1st trip to the quarterfinals of the DIAA state tournament, and the most players we ever had recognized for All - Conference Honors." The Lady Hawks had seven 1st team selections, two 2nd team picks, and 1 Honorable Mention, and most players honored at the All-State level (4), as well as 3 seniors selected to the annual Blue - Gold senior game.
Seedorf said some of the keys to their success has been players helping each other improve and, "always remaining positive, and a sense of team among our players. Our seniors did a tremendous job of leading the team and setting the example for the other players, and the parental/guardian support for this team has been outstanding. I know all of us would like to pinpoint a few keys to a highly successful softball program, but there are so many aspects that need to come together for that to happen, it is a tribute to everyone involved for the outstanding season that we had."
Regarding the post-season loss to Caravel, Seedorf said, "our team made some outstanding plays, battled at every opportunity, and never gave up, which is the culture our team lived by throughout the season. I am very proud of our team and I believe they proved they are among the top competitive teams in the state. This game will only make our team and program better in the future."
