  • The 2013 Middletown Jaycees Fourth of July Parade got Independence Day got off to a rousing start Thursday morning.
The parade, which stepped off from Everett Meredith Middle School on South Broad Street at 10 a.m., included dozens of representatives from a wide variety of civic organizations, local businesses, pageants, area fire departments and other groups.
Hundreds of families also brought their adorable patriots out to watch the festivities and to enjoy the moon bounces, face painting and balloon animals available at the Kid's Corner in the parking lot of Forest Presbyterian Church at 44 W. Main St.
Even more families are expected to return to downtown Middletown this evening for the fireworks show at Silver Lake Park that will begin dusk.
Be sure to check out our individual photo galleries of the parade participants and the children who love them by clicking on the links to the left.
We'll be adding more photos from the fireworks show later tonight and tomorrow.
