MOT 10-11 YO all stars lost to Milford 11-2 Friday night in the Little Leage District One title game.

The MOT all-stars fell behind early in an 11-2 loss to the Milford all-stars in the title game of the 10-11-YO District One Tournament held Friday night at the MaryDel Sports Complex in Hartley. The victory marked Milford's fourth consecutive divisional title.

Milford hit the ball in the early going, scored seven runs in the first inning, helped in part by MOT's errors in the field.

"Our team played pretty solid defense all season and during the tournament, but we mishandled the baseball in that first inning," said MOT coach Dan Roberts. "But let's give credit to Milford, they played very well tonight and took advantage of their opportunities," he said.

Once Milford build a healthy lead, the team's pitching took over the game. Starter Kadin Hudson and reliever Brandon Schlabach were dominant, accounting for 15 of the 18 outs, as Hudson struck out seven batters and Schlabach racked up eight strikeouts in the six inning game. MOT pushed across one run in each of the third and fourth innings, but Milford scored two in the top of the fourth and single runs in the fifth and sixth to put the game out of reach.

One of MOT's runs was scored on a passed ball, while Ben Stewart had the only RBI of the game for the second-place team.

"We hit the ball well tonight," said Milford coach Thomas Wallace, "We were fortunate to play well tonight both offensively and defensively. We did this as a team, and we couldn't have done it without all of my players and my coaches." Wallace also added he wanted to thank all of the parents and the Milford community for their support all season and during the tournament.
