Townsend resident Lisa Detwiler recently became the new vice chairwoman of the board of directors for the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula.
Detwiler was elected to the post in May. Her two-year term officially began July 1.
In her new role, Detwiler will work with newly-elected chairman Mark R. Hutton Jr. of Newark and the 18 other members of the board of directors to advise and support to the Wilmington-based humanitarian agency, which provides disaster relief and safety training services to 14 counties in Delaware, Maryland and northern Virginia.
Detwiler has served as a volunteer board member with the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula for five years. During that time, she has served as the board's secretary, chaired the financial development committee and helped to plan fundraising events, such as Black Tie Monopoly and Wine, Dine and Deal.
Detwiler also works as the chief operating officer for SSD Technology Partners in Wilmington.
