  • The newest assistant principal at Middletown High School is a new face in the Appoquinimink School District.
Lynn M. Windley, who most recently worked in the Christina School District, will join the staff at Middletown High School as one of its three assistant principals starting Aug. 5, district officials announced Thursday.
"I am really excited," said Windley, a 1997 graduate of Seaford High School. "I have family in Middletown and I've wanted to be there for a while now. I have a lot of faith in the school, in [Principal] Matt Donovan and his team. I think it will be a great fit."
Windley will fill the assistant principal position left vacant when her predecessor, Suzanne Street, was tapped to become the new assistant principal at Appoquinimink High School. Street will replace Mike Breen, who chose to return to teaching.
Windley was the 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year at Christiana High School, where she spent nine years teaching English.
She earned her bachelor's degree in English and literature from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. in 2001 and a master's degree in literature and pedagogy from the University of Delaware in 2004. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in organizational leadership from Columbia University in New York City.
At Middletown High School, she will join an administrative leadership team that includes fellow assistant principals Felecia Duggins and Veronica Perrine.
