  • Police are searching for a man who reportedly assaulted a Middletown-area woman during an attempted home invasion robbery Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to the 20-year-old victim’s home in the 1100 block of Bohemia Mill Road, just a few miles northwest of Middletown, about 9:48 a.m., according to New Castle County Police Department spokesman Cpl. John Weglarz.
The woman told police she confronted the man after finding him standing just inside her front door.
The man then reportedly assaulted the woman and fled the home empty handed.
The victim did not require medical attention.
Officers, including a canine team, canvassed the neighborhood and surrounding area in an attempt to locate the suspect, but were unsuccessful, Weglarz said.
Police did collect unidentified evidence from the scene and an investigation is ongoing, he said.
The attempted robber is described as a white man, about 6 feet tall, about 160 pounds with a thin build, short brown hair and brown eyes.
