  • This football season for Appoquinimink High School starts Thursday, Sept. 5, in the DFRC Kickoff Classic at home against Woodbridge at 7 p.m.
Here's a preview of the 2013 Jaguars team:
Head Coach: Jeff Weiner, 7th year
    2012 Record: 5-5
Key Returning Players: Shane Anderson at quarterback, Tre Woodard at offensive line, Drew Smith as offensive lineman, Matt Minner at offensive lineman, Jeriah Hercules returns at fullback
Key Newcomers: Matt Johnson, Terrance Smith and Nelson Collins, Sekia Hercules, and Jared Balan
Season Outlook: This year has a lot of younger players than in the previous years. There are a lot kids that played freshman that are working to move up to varsity, and the team has some athletes who are coming back who did not play a year ago.
Coach's Quote: "We have a very hard working group of football players, who want to do well. They listen very well and they are very coachable. It's hard to pin point our strengths and weaknesses right now. We're just trying to get better every day, both on offense and defense, and special teams. Our main concern right now is getting ready for Woodbridge in our season opener in the Kickoff Classic Thursday. So we'll see how we do in that first game."
