  • Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying two men who burglarized Middletown News and Tobacco early Tuesday morning.
The Middletown Police Department on Friday released three surveillance video images taken during the break in at the newsstand in the Middletown Plaza Shopping Center at 600 N. Broad St.
The men reportedly forced their way into the business and fled through the rear doors, setting off an automatic alarm that alerted officers about 2 a.m.
Police have not released any further details about the break-in, including whether any merchandise or cash was removed.
The burglars are each described as white males about 5'8" to 5'10".
One is described as having an average build and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
The other burglar is described as having short, dark hair and was last seen wearing a light-colored baseball cap, a black long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt and light-colored pants, possibly blue jeans, police said.
Anyone with information about the burglary or the identity and whereabouts of either suspect is asked to call the Middletown Police Department at (302) 376-9950 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) 847-3333.
Tips also can be texted to 274637 with the keyword "DCS" and your message.
