  • Delaware City Marina is asking area residents to donate their gently used winter garments to families in need as a part of its inaugural Bring A Coat, Take A Coat clothing drive.
Tim Konkus, a co-owner of the marina at 302 Canal St., said the clothing drive began as a small word-of-mouth exchange to help a few local families, but is growing into a larger donation opportunity.
"From the response we've been getting, we're hoping to be able to pass out coats and other clothes to anyone who needs them," he said. "Our goal is help out the Delaware City, Port Penn and St. Georges areas, but hopefully we can extend it to the community at large."
Coats, snowsuits, snow pants, winter hats, gloves and scarves can be dropped off at the marina from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. up until Friday, Sept. 27.
Anyone in need of winter garments will be able to choose from the donated selection between noon and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Any leftover clothing will be donated to Goodwill Industries.
For more information, contact the marina at (302) 834-4172.
