  • The main east-west road into St. Georges will be closed for more than six weeks to accommodate a DelDOT project.
    Kirkwood-St. Georges Road from Athea Way to Main Street will be closed in both directions from 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 until 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4 while Brubacher Excavating of Eastern Earl, Pa., removes and replaces a box culvert.
    New Castle County also will be installing water and sewer lines during the project, officials said.
    During the project, motorists heading east Kirkwood-St. Georges Road on their way to Main Street in St. Georges will be directed to turn north onto McCoy Road, east onto Wrangle Hill Road and then south on U.S. Route 13.
    Motorists heading west from Main Street on their way to Kirkwood-St. Georges will be directed to head north on U.S. Route 13, west onto Wrangle Hill Road and then south on McCoy Road.
