New Castle County government is reminding taxpayers that their county property taxes and Delaware school taxes are due next Monday.
Any balance that remains on county tax accounts as of Oct. 1 will be subject to a 6-percent late fee, followed by an additional 1-percent penalty each month thereafter.
County property taxes and state school taxes are combined into one billing statement. State school taxes are set by local school district, which are collected by the county and passed onto the state.
Property owners can access their tax information and payment status or download a duplicate billing statement by using the “parcel view” link on the county website www.nccde.org/parcelview.
Property owners can pay their tax bills with a single check or money order made payable to “New Castle County” using the return envelope provided in their billing statement. Payments also can be mailed to New Castle County Property, P.O. Box 15358, Wilmington, DE, 19886-5358.
Cash, check, money order, Discover Card and debit card payments also are accepted at the New Castle County Government Center at 87 Reads Way in New Castle on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The payments windows will remain open until 6 p.m. on Friday and Monday. A drop box is also available 24 hours for check and money order payments at the main entrance of the Government Center.
Credit card payments also can be made over the phone by calling the New Castle County Finance Office at (302) 323-2600. Discover Card is accepted directly by the county, while all other major credit cards are accepted by a third-party company that charges a 2.5 percent user service fee.
