Government officials said today that the recent salmonella outbreak includes strains that resist antibiotics. The outbreak, linked to Foster Farms chicken, hospitalizes people at a rate of 42 percent, though no one has died because of the salmonella. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - which has had to furlough workers because of the government shutdown - brought back workers to investigate the outbreak.
