Archmere Academy scored 24 points in the first half, and Appoquinimink made too many mistakes on both sides of the ball as the Jaguars fell to the Auks 38-7 on Appo's Homecoming night on Friday.
Archmere built a 10-0 lead before Appo's Demetrius Word scored on an 83-yard touchdown with 4:52 remaining in the second quarter, but that's all the points the Jaguars would manage against the Auks stubborn defense.Rainy weather and turnovers also cost the Jaguars several opportunities to stay in the ball game.
Archmere would gain a 24-7 advantage going into halftime after the Jags coughed up the ball deep in their own territory with under three minutes left in the second quarter.
The Auks would score two more touchdowns in the third quarter to ice the victory.
The last touchdown was scored on a blocked punt.
The 0-6 Jaguars travel to Newark next Friday to play the Yellowjackets at 7:00p.m.
The 3-3 Auks host Conrad next Saturday at 2 p.m. in Archmere's Homecoming game.
