A 20-year-old Middletown man was allegedly found with more than 100 bags of heroin following a foot chase in downtown Middletown on Monday.
Gary Johnson was spotted walking between various houses in the 100 block of Lockwood Street by a pair of Middletown police officers who were conducting foot patrols in the area just after 10 p.m., said Middletown Police Chief Henry Tobin III.
Johnson reportedly fled when approached by the officers, resulting in a short foot chase that ended with him being taken into custody.
Johnson was found to be carrying the 130 bags of heroin, totaling 3.25 grams, police said.
He also was wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant charging him with a probation violation.
Johnson is charged with possession of heroin, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
He is being held at the Howard Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington on a $61,000 secured bond, police said.
