Seven people were displaced by a house fire that tore through their Delaware City home on Thursday, according to fire officials.
The Delaware City Fire Company was called to the fire in the 300 block of Washington Street just before 10 p.m., Chief Deputy Fire Marshal Robert L. Fox said in a release.
Heavy smoke and fire was seen coming from the three-story home when firefighters arrived and several neighboring fire companies were called in to assist, he said.
The origin and cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday morning.
Several occupants of the home were treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics and EMS personnel, but refused further treatment.
No other injuries were reported.
The estimated damage to the home is about $150,000, Fox said.
The seven residents are being assisted by the Red Cross of Delmarva.
