The Middletown MOMS Club kicked off a yearlong service project in October – Domestic Violence Awareness Month – by providing landscaping beautification and other upgrades to a southern New Castle County domestic violence shelter operated by CHILD Inc.
The local MOMs Club will continue its efforts throughout the year by working to provide a welcome sight to the women and children who call the shelter their temporary home.
Several members also will volunteer to provide childcare during the project.
The Middletown MOMS Club is the local chapter of a nonprofit support group for full- and part-time at-home mothers that hosts playgroups, monthly meetings with guest speakers, daytrips, park days and other activities. Anyone interested in joining can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, with “potential new member” in the subject line.
CHILD Inc., a 50-year-old nonprofit advocacy group for children, also provides a wide variety of domestic violence services throughout New Castle County, including shelters, counseling and its 24-hour hotline: (302) 762-6110.
