St. Anne’s Episcopal School will be offering a pair of new $7,500 scholarships to its middle school for the 2014-2015 school year.

St. Anne’s Episcopal School will be offering  a pair of new $7,500 scholarships to its middle school for the 2014-2015 school year.

“We are seeking students with strong, well-rounded academic and extracurricular abilities who are entering grades 5-8,” Middle School Head Lora Byrd said in a release. “Our hope is they will not only benefit from, but also add to the St. Anne’s community.”

The Community Merit Scholarships will be available to the selected students for each year they attended the school, for a total possible value of $30,000 each.

To qualify, prospective students must complete a school application and indicate their desire to be considered for a merit scholarship by the March 15 deadline. Applicants also must undergo an interview and a day of classroom participation. Parents of prospective students are expected to tour the school at 211 Silver Lake Road and meet with school administrators.

A required admission exam and writing sample will be administered on March 29. Scholarship recipients will be notified on April 15, and asked to make a decision by May 1.

The announcement of the school’s newest $7,500 Community Merit Scholarships comes just months after St. Anne’s first awarded a pair of similar scholarships prior to the start of the current school year, thanks to a donation from an anonymous benefactor.

“Repeating the success of last year,  anonymous donors have made it possible for us to offer two more Community Merit Scholarships to reach out of the broader community,” Head of School Peter Thayer said.

Applications are available at the school and on its website,

An open house will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 13 followed by an information session and tours from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Nov. 20.
