  • A Middletown-area pastor was recently elected president of the Delaware Association of American Mothers.
The Rev. Catherine Short of Lea Eara Farms will head the association, which is perhaps best known for selecting Delaware’s Mother of the Year and Young Mother of the Year.
Short owns “See the World” Travel Agency, which books leisure package tours, as well as retreats for those with special needs, their caregivers, counselors and family members.
Short is also an ordained, non-denominational team pastor with her husband, the Rev. Jewett M. Short, who currently serves as the pastor of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
The couple are the parents of Bryan D. Short, a Connecticut resident who co-owns The Sewing Loft of Avon with his wife, Rachel Panizca Short.
Short earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa. and a Master of Divinity degree from Palmer Theological Seminary in King of Prussia, Pa.
She has served as the vice president of Faith Home Ministries, as secretary of the board of directors for the Brandywine Hundred Rotary, owner and advisory council president of Delaware Community Connections, financial secretary of Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Dover and associate pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Wilmington.
Short will complete the remaining term of immediate past president Candy Abbott, before beginning her own one-year term in April.
