  • Individuals, businesses and organizations are being asked to add children and seniors to their shopping list by participating in the annual Holiday Adopt-A-Family program.
Donors who sign up by the Dec. 10 deadline will be anonymously matched with a nursing home resident or a family with one or more children.
Donors who adopt a family will be provided with the age and gender of each child and a brief description of the circumstances that led to their need for assistance. Family donors will be asked to provide gift cards or gift certificates to the head-of-household to use in buying holiday gifts.
Donors who adopt a senior will receive a list of items the senior would appreciate, as well as clothing preferences and sizes.
All gift cards, gift certificates or senior gifts must be dropped off at the New Castle County Adopt-A-Family Office at 3301 Green St. in Claymont by Dec. 16.
To sign up as a donor, contact the New Castle County Adopt-A-Family by calling (302) 792-9538 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or email lisa.mb.johnson@state.de.us.
