  • A New York woman was arrested Monday during an undercover prostitution sting at a Middletown massage parlor.
Chunyan Li, a 45-year-old employee of the Massage Center in the Middletown Square Shopping Center, is accused of offering to perform sexual services on an undercover detective in exchange for an additional charge.
The detective declined the offer, but Middletown Police and troopers from the Delaware State Police soon returned to the business with search warrant.
Li, who lives in Flushing, N.Y., is charged with a single count of prostitution. She was released from the Baylor Women's Correctional Institution in Wilmington later in the day after posting a $500 secured bail, according to corrections officials.
Middletown Police Chief Henry Tobin III said the investigation was the result of numerous complaints from the public about the business at 867 N. Broad St.
Tobin said police did not shut down the business following Monday's sting, although an investigation into its operations remains ongoing.
The Massage Center first acquired a business license from the town in February.
Calls placed to a phone number listed on the business license were not answered Wednesday afternoon.
