  • The Appoquinimink Foundation handed out a trio of grants to local school programs last month, collectively totaling more than $7,000.
A $5,000 grant was presented to Silver Lake Elementary to help the school fund another year of its “Leader in Me” program, a holistic personal-accountability initiative modelled after Stephen Covey's best-selling book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”
The foundation also provided a $250 check to the Middletown High School Cavaliers Marching Band for their trip to London for New Year’s Eve.
Meanwhile, a $1,775 check was given to Appoquinimink School District Science Specialist Todd Dunn to help support the district’s annual STEM Expo and Science Fair.
The Appoquinimink Foundation is a private non-profit that has provided more than $22,000 to district schools and school-related organizations since 2010.
