Operation Christmas Wish will return to the Middletown Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 14 with the goal of helping local students and families in need have a happy Christmas morning.
Initially founded by Bunker Hill Elementary School first-grade teacher Alisha Gravatt in 2007, the annual charity drive has grown to three locations and now serves children in 11 school districts across the state.
Beginning at 6 a.m., radio personalities from 94.7 WDSD and 92.9 TOM-FM will begin broadcasting from the Middletown WalMart, encouraging businesses and individuals to "adopt and shop" for needy children and families whose specific needs have been identified and evaluated by local social service agencies and other nonprofit organizations.
Similar events will be held simultaneously at the Dover and Christiana malls.
For more information about the program, to make a contribution or to adopt a family, contact Jim Gravatt by calling (302) 312-1398 or email Jimgravatt@aol.com.
