  • Dorothy B. Diachun Kwasnieski passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013. She was born in Eastport, Long Island, New York on April 23, 1932. She married Henry J. Kwasnieski in 1949 and they were blessed with six children who helped them with the family farm. The family moved from Long Island, New York to Middletown, Delaware in 1957. Dorothy was a homemaker, worked in the family business, and was active with the Altar Rosary Society at St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown. Dorothy was preceded in death by parents John and Anna Diachun, her husband Henry in 1981 and her son Joseph in 1991. She is survived by her children Rosemarie Short and her husband Robert of Grapevine, TX, Bernadette Mossman of Fenwick Island, Timothy Kwasnieski and his wife Joyce of West Chester, PA, Christina Shaffner and her husband Joseph of Townsend, and Denis Kwasnieski and his wife Clarice of Middletown, grandchildren Randall King, Brian Kwasnieski, Joseph, Mitchell and Jonathan Shaffner, and Andrew and Daniel Kwasnieski and great grandchildren, Dylana, Weston, and Evelyn Shaffner. Services will be held on Thursday, December 12 at St. Joseph Church, 371 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at Old Bohemia Cemetery, Warwick, MD. Memorial contributions may be sent to Old Bohemia Historical Society, P. O. Box 61, Warwick, MD 21912.
