More than 145 local crafters will converge at Appoquinimink High School Saturday, Dec. 14. Organizers said the focus of the craft show is on handmade items from area artists, artisans and crafters who make 85 percent of their goods.
Items include pottery, cut glass, wreaths, poinsettias, baskets, paintings, art photography, unique holiday cards, jewelry, dips and seasonings and more. Younger children will be able to visit with Santa between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. before local country and rock band Summerline begins entertaining the crowds from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Student clubs will also have refreshments prepared for sale.
The craft sale is sponsored by the AHS Sports Boosters, which continues to expand its volunteer base. This year, in addition to additional support from sports teams, other AHS clubs have agreed to help out, including: Model UN, Best Buddies, Spectrum, Chorus, Book Club and National Honor Society. These groups will assist with vendor set-up and break-down as well as flyer distribution. In return, these clubs will receive funds for their clubs, certificates for volunteer hours and the opportunity to set up their own booth to sell crafts. Proceeds from the event are donated to the AHS Athletic Department.
Organizers also said that they would like to recognize AHS senior Katie-Rose Nunziato who has been helping with volunteer coordination efforts as part of her senior project.
