Four teachers from the Appoquinimink School District and one from MOT Charter School are among 34 educators from across the state recently named to the 2014 Delaware Dream Team.
Middletown High English teacher James Foltz, Old State Elementary fifth-grade teacher Dana Patton, Alfred G. Waters Middle sixth-grade math and science teacher Laura Conner, Brick Mill Elementary first-grade teacher Annie Rosenthal and MOT Charter eighth-grade language arts teacher Pam Andreavich will each receive a $500 stipend as members of the Dream Team.
Over the next year, the 34-member Dream Team will collaborate in small groups with fellow teachers and coaches to develop Common Core formative assessments and share their professional development experience with their colleagues.
“The 2014 Dream Team is both an opportunity to recognize some of the state’s most accomplished teachers and a challenge to those individuals to continue to grow, to make collaboration an integral part of their practice and to create high-quality materials that will help teachers and students across our state – and around the country – be successful,” said Mark Murphy, the state secretary of education.
The Dream Team will meet from Jan. 9 to Jan. 11 for Delaware’s TechFest, after which they will return to their respective schools to continue working with their peers and content coaches in online professional learning communities to help develop resources that will be shared on LearnZillion.com.
