  • New Castle County government offices are closed because of snow

  • New Castle County Chief Administrative Officer David Grimaldi said non-essential personnel should stay home; however, essential personnel should report to work as scheduled.

  • New Castle County government offices will be closed on Friday, Jan. 1 due to snowfall of up to 6 to 8 inches by the time the winter storm is over, said Antonio M. Prado, New Castle County Director of Communications.
    County Chief Administrative Officer David Grimaldi said non-essential personnel should stay home; however, essential personnel should report to work as scheduled.
    County officials made the decision to close down most operations save for essential personnel after the State of Delaware decided to close its offices due to the inclement weather.
    A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for New Castle County until 1 p.m. today. Falling snow, along with areas of blowing and drifting snow, are forecast with accumulations of 6 to 8 inches. Winds are being measured at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
    Temperatures have fallen to the 20s and teens and are forecast to stay below breezing through Saturday. Freezing of melted snow or water spray along the coast will occur and be a hazard.
