The Appoquinimink School District, MOT Charter School and St. Anne's Episcopal School have closed school today after southern New Castle County was blanketed with more than 2 inches of snow.

Appoquinimink officials said offices would be opening 2-hours late, while all district-sponsored after-school activities are cancelled.

It's the sixth time schools have initiated a weather-related closure this year, with students sent home after a half day on Jan. 21.

According to DelDOT, snow accumulation totals reached almost 2.5 inches in Townsend, adding to roughly 3 inches that still remained from last week's storm.

St. Anne's officials said faculty and parent sessions with Dr. Val Sandberg scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. today will proceed as planned.

However, today's exams for 7th and 8th grade will be rescheduled for a later date.
