The Appoquinimink School District is asking parents, students and faculty members to nominate their favorite educators for its 2014 Teacher of the Year honors.
District stakeholders can nominate as many teachers as they like between now and Feb. 21, although each nomination must come with explanation of what make that person an outstanding teacher in 100 words or less.
Nomination forms can be found under the News section of the district’s website at apposchooldistrict.com.
Submissions must be mailed to the Appoquinimink Curriculum Office at Suite 207, 313 S. Sixth St., Odessa, DE 19730 or faxed to the attention of Dea Fawcett at (302) 378-5280.
All Teacher of the Year nominees will receive a congratulatory letter and professional recognition.
Each school in the district selects its own Teacher of the Year from the pool nominees. Building-level Teachers of the Year will be named March 11. One will be chosen to represent the district at a gala dinner on April 16. The district teacher of the year will then be eligible for the Delaware Teacher of the Year honors awarded in October.
Last year, Appoquinimink School District French teacher Lea Wainwright was named the 2014 Delaware Teacher of the Year after being selected to represent the district in May.
