  • The Delaware Department of Education has awarded two grants worth more than $1.3 million to fund partnerships with Delaware universities that will provide professional development to K-12 science and math educators.
    Practicing the STEM Practices in an Interdisciplinary Laboratory Setting project received $230,040 over two-years for a partnership between the university and 12 Delaware high schools. School teams of secondary science and math teachers will experience interdisciplinary problem-based learning in the University of Delaware’s new interdisciplinary science & engineering laboratory (ISE Lab) during the winter term, design interdisciplinary lessons for use with high school students in the spring and then conduct an academy for secondary students during summer 2014.
    Delaware K-12 Mathematics Partnership project received $1.1 million over two years for a partnership project between the Delaware Math Coalition and the university. The professional development will engage about 230 K-12 teachers, grouped in learning strands, in both statewide and school-based professional learning opportunities totaling 80 hours per year.
