  • A 28-year-old Bear man was arrested on drug charges last week after police allegedly found 2,760 bags of heroin in a home located just a few hundred yards from Olive B. Loss Elementary School.
Darnell O. Farrare was taken into custody during the Feb. 20 raid at his home in the unit block of Bryan Circle in the Brennan Estates neighborhood, according to Cpl. Jacob Andrews, a spokesman for the New Castle County Police Department.
During a search of the house, officers found $1,540 in cash and duffel bag containing the heroin, which totaled 69 grams, Andrews said.
The home also was found to be in what Andrews described as “deplorable condition” and officers notified the New Castle County code enforcement officers, he said.
Farrare is charged with heroin possession in a Tier 5 quantity, possession with intent to distribute heroin in a Tier 4 quantity, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is being held at the Howard Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington in lieu of a $45,000 secured bail, Andrews said.
