  • Majors Tim and Jan Duperree, the Delaware State Coordinators for the Salvation Army, visited three Middletown-area schools last week to present honors to those students who volunteered during its 2013 Red Kettle campaign.
The 2013 holiday campaign raised nearly $28,000, a 20 percent increase over 2012, which local coordinator Jim Young credited in part to the efforts of more than 130 local students volunteers from the National Honor Societies at Appoquinimink and Middletown high schools, the Middletown High School Air Force Junior Officer Training Corps and members of the senior class at St. Andrew’s School.
