  • Gov. Jack Markell announced he will be lifting the state of emergency and Level 1 driving warning for New Castle County at 2 p.m. today. The State of Emergency with a Level 1 Driving Warning remains in effect in Kent and Sussex Counties.
“As expected, Kent and Sussex Counties received the greatest impact of this storm," said Governor Markell. “Road conditions continue to improve, but motorists should continue to be careful, as snowy and icy spots still exist and additional snowfall is expected in the southern part of the state.”
The Level 1 driving warning went into effect at midnight.
A Level 1 warning means any person on the road during that time shall exercise extra caution in the operation of their motor vehicle. Nonessential employees, regardless of whether employed by a public or private entity, are encouraged not to operate a motor vehicle on the state's roadways during the warning unless there is a significant safety, health or business reason to do so.
