  • A 15-year-old Middletown teen missing since Christmas Day has reportedly been seen around the Smyrna-Clayton area, police said today.
“We’ve gotten calls from people who say they’ve seen here and we’re asking for the public’s help in locating here so we can help bring her home,” said Lt. Michael Kelly of the Middletown Police Department.
Harley Mills ran away from her home in the unit block of East Cole Boulevard around 6 p.m. on Dec. 25, Kelly said.
Police and the Delaware Division of Family Services have been conducting a joint investigation to locate Mills and return her home ever since.
Police first asked for the public’s help in locating Mills last week.
Kelly said no Amber Alert was ever issued for Mills, because the notification system is used for child abductions, and not situations in which a juvenile has left home.
No foul play is suspected in her disappearance, although anyone harboring or aiding Mills could be subject to criminal charges, he said.
“There have been sightings and she’s been in contact with family and friends from time to time,” he said. “We do not believe she is in any immediate danger, but she is a missing person and we want to be sure she’s okay and returned home.”
Police previously said Mills might still be staying with an adult boyfriend.
She is described as 5’4” and about 100 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call Middletown Police at (302) 376-9950.
Anonymous tips also can be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
