  • Brian Aube, a senior at Appoquinimink High School, is organizing "Paintball With Purpose, An Event to Target Cancer Cures" on Sunday, March 9.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at OXCC Paintball Park, 2941 Old Telegraph Road, Chesapeake City, Md.
Proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in its mission to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
"This society has been a second family to me ever since my grandfather passed away with lymphoma cancer, and I thought it would be a good idea to finally give something back to them," said Aube, who selected the fundraiser for his high school senior project.
The $45 registration fee includes all-day air, a full rental package, and 500 paintballs.
To pre-register, see the website oxcc.com.
    Walk-ins are also welcome.
Prizes -- donated by local businesses, groups, and individuals -- will be given away throughout the day.
To donate a prize to help with the cause, email Brian92795@msn.com by March 7.
