  • A 29-year-old Middletown-area man was punched in the face Wednesday during mugging in a Bear shopping center in which the robber made off with the victim’s eye glasses.

  • A 29-year-old Middletown-area man was punched in the face Wednesday during mugging in a Bear shopping center in which the robber made off with the victim’s eye glasses.
    The mugging occurred as the Middletown man was walking through the parking lot of a ShopRite grocery at 1101 Governors Place about 9:24 p.m., according to Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. John Day.
    The mugger reportedly demanded the victim’s wallet and attempted to reach into his pockets to take it.
    The victim pulled away and the two men engaged in a brief struggle before the mugger struck the Middletown man, knocking his glasses off of his face.
    The attacker picked up the man’s glasses and fled.
    The victim suffered a minor injury but did not require medical attention at the scene, Day said.
    The mugger is described as a black man with a muscular build, between 20 and 30 years old and about 5’8”.
