  • Nearly 400 young musicians performed in front of their peers at the Fifth Annual Appoquinimink School District Band Festival on April 1.
The event, held at Appoquinimink High School, is intended to provide students from schools throughout the district with an opportunity to see each other perform while encouraging ongoing participation in band.
“We believe this experience will encourage the 8th graders to continue their music education through the high school years,” said Louis L. Redding Middle School Instrumental Music Director Kathleen McGrath. “Personally, I love having the opportunity to see and hear my previous students perform. It’s a very exciting day ... one of my favorite days of the year.”
Bands from Alfred G. Waters Middle School, Everett Meredith Middle School, Louis L. Redding Middle School, Appoquinimink High School and Middletown High School performed at this year’s festival.
