The eighth-grade math league team from Waters Middle won fourth place at their April 1 invitational, where Noah Carpe took third in the individual awards. He also was one of only four students to record a perfect score.
The ninth-grade team from St. Andrew’s School won second place at their invitational on March 31, where Ben Chen took second place in the individual awards and was one of three students to record a perfect score.
One St. Andrew’s team also won second place in the invitational for students in Grades 10 to 12, while another won third. Bill Hu also won second in the individual awards at that meet, while both he and Lily Shao were among the four students who earned perfect scores.
The Math League invitationals, sponsored by the Delaware Council of Teachers of Mathematics, include the top teams and high-scoring individuals from four regional competitions held throughout the year.
The seventh-grade Math League team from MOT Charter School finished first in Region 8 this year, while Waters Middle’s seventh-grade team finished second. Those ranking were reversed at the eight-grade level.
Appoquinimink High School’s eighth-grade team took first place in Region 6, followed by St. Andrews, while St. Andrew’s teams finished first and second in the Grade 10 to 12 regional competitions.
