The Caesar Rodney Riders baseball team won their fourth consecutive game on Saturday, a 5-1 win over Middletown, improving to 5-2 on the season.
Steven Clavier pitched six innings giving up just one run to the Cavaliers on five hits. Travis Dill led the way for the CR offense going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in, while Clavier and Seth Brosius each doubled and knocked in a run for the Riders in the victory.
The Rider offense got to starter Chandler Swalm early scoring two runs in the bottom half of the first inning taking a 2-0 lead after one. The Riders saw three more runs cross the plate in the third while adding another in the fourth for a 6-0 lead after five innings.
The loss broke a two-game winning streak for the Cavaliers bringing their record to 4-3 on the season. Swalm did his best to help his own cause going 2-for-4 in the loss while Robert Pitroli, Colin Peluse, and Chris Whitlock all had hits for Middletown.
