  • A Middletown woman and a Townsend man each were ticketed Tuesday following a three-car crash in downtown Middletown.
The pile-up occurred at the intersection of West Main Street and Industrial Drive just after 2 p.m.
Police said a westbound 1996 Toyota Corolla ran a red light and struck the passenger side of a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was heading north from Industrial Drive into the Middletown Marketplace shopping center.
After the initial collision, the Toyota then struck a 2000 Ford Taurus that was attempting to make a left turn from the shopping center onto eastbound West Main Street, according to Middletown Police Department spokesman Lt. Michael Kelly.
The driver of the Toyota, a 74-year-old Middletown woman, was evaluated by paramedics for minor injuries to her head, arms and knees, but refused treatment, he said, adding that she later was taken to medical facility by family members.
She was cited for failing to stop at a red light, while the driver of the Chevrolet, a 45-year-old Townsend man, was cited for driving on a suspended or revoked license, Kelly said.
Neither he nor the 24-year-old Townsend woman who was driving the Ford Taurus reported any injuries.
